TNA Impact spoilers from Mar. 3 taping: Post-Hardy plans, more returns!

The first weekend of taping for the “new” Impact Wrestling rolled on last night (Mar. 3) in Orlando, and while it didn’t involve as major a debut or return as night one, it wasn’t without some noteworthy happenings.

This is compiled from a variety of live reports, which are subject to a couple levels of interpretation, and final production of the material for airing on television usually changes context, so…

Take these with a grain of salt, is all I’m saying. Still the big matches, winners/losers and story beats are here.

Filmed Friday, matches said to air mostly on Mar. 16 & 23:

– Some confusion among the reports, but there was a pre-show announcement from Jeremy Borash that the World title won by Alberto El Patron the night before was now vacant – whether Alberto handed it over or had it taken seems to be in question.

– ODB def. Rebel. There was an angle involving referee Earl Hebner drinking from ODB’s flask and kissing one or both of the Knockouts.

– Promo time with Alberto, who put over the Impact Zone as his house. One report says he claimed he lost the belt due to politics. Either way, he calls out Lashley and gets Ethan Carter III instead. EC3 says El Patron should have to fight for a title shot and challenges him to a #1 contender match. Alberto turns him down, because he came to fight the Big Dog and not the b*tch (and say “perro” a lot, probably). They brawl, which leads to El Patron agreeing to face Carter later.

– Trevor Lee def. Suicide, Braxton Sutter, and Andrew Everett. Allie was with Sutter, and they were both distracted by Laurel Van Ness to set-up the finish.

– Sienna comes out to threaten Allie, reminding the couple Romeo & Juliet ends in tragedy.

– Bruce Prichard addresses the tag title situation. He says the belts have to be won or lost in the ring, not “outer space”, so no one knows who the champions are. In two weeks (likely Mar. 30), the top teams will compete to crown new champs.

– Decay come out, saying the rescued the titles from space & time, so they deserve them. Reno Scum (who are billed as GFW tag champs) show up to argue they deserve them for beating DCC. Laredo Kid & Garza Jr state their case. The three teams brawl, with Decay standing tall. But then LAX returns, surrounds the ring and takes out Decay. The new version of Konnan’s stable is him, Homicide, Angel Rose, Angel Ortiz and Mike Draztic.

– Davey Richards def. Suicide

– Mahabali Shera, Garza Jr & Laredo Kid def. Idris Abraham, Fallah Bahh & Bokara

– Reno Scum def. Decay (probably to go to a title match). Rosemary accidentally misted Crazzy Steve to set-up the finish.

– LAX (Angel Ortiz and Mike Draztic) def. DCC (Bram and James Storm). in a pre-match promo, Konnan calls DCC the “Impact White Mafia” and says LAX is gonna take the match “street style”. Afterwards, Kingston and Storm argue with one another.

– Angelina Love def. MJ Jenkins (Xplosion match)

– Lashley def. Jake Holmes. Lashley was carrying the title and announced as champ for this, so it may be for an earlier Xplosion episode, or…?

– Karen Jarrett’s return. She says the last few years have been rough for Impact, but she’s going to take the high road and focus on the future. She puts over the energy backstage.

– EC3 comes out and says he’s a locker room leader and he’s ready to make Impact great again – not for “her last name, but his”.

– Josh Mathews gets involved here. The crowd was chanting for him to be fired earlier. He’s mad the Jarretts have put him with the “JV team” on commentary, and makes fun of their bringing back older names like Prichard and Dutch Mantell. Mathews gets on the crowd, saying they’re only here because they didn’t want to pay for NXT tickets. Somehow, he mentions he’s married to Madison Rayne. After all this, Karen slaps him. Everyone leaves but Josh, and Rayne comes out to check on him and thank him for telling the truth.

– Laurel Van Ness def. Rachael Ellering. Before hand, LVN claimed her opponent slipped in the shower, but before Hebner could award her the match, Ellering came out with her shoulder taped. This is said to be for One Night Only pay-per-view (PPV).

– Rosemary def. Santana Garrett to retain the Knockouts title

– Alberto El Patron def. EC3 via submission to become the #1 contender for the World championship. Afterwards, they shook hands and Alberto thanked the crowd, but that might not be for air.

That’s what we know… what do you think?

More taping – and rumored big happenings – tonight!
