Jurgen Klopp: Needs to find a way to beat lower teams

Jurgen Klopp admits training was angry last week and says Liverpool must prove they can beat the Premier League’s lesser sides like Burnley next weekend.

The Reds began last week with a 3-1 defeat away at lowly Leicester, but inflicted the same scoreline at Arsenal on Saturday to maintain their hopes of Champions League qualification.

Klopp’s men have had an inconsistent season with victories against the best and in fact they remain unbeaten against the top six, but they have suffered defeats against some of the league’s lesser lights.

Their five defeats this season have come to Bournemouth, Swansea, Hull, Leicester and next Saturday’s opponents, Burnley.

“There will be moments when we play like this [against Arsenal] and win again – and it is what we did this season already, in fact – and it will be against a team not in the top six,” Klopp said at the weekend.

“But we have to work on it, first of all we have to feel like it is possible.

“The whole week [coming] is different. When the week starts after Leicester everybody was angry, then we produce this performance against Arsenal. But then the question is immediately about Burnley and it starts already: ‘Oh, how can we do this?’ The legs feel already very heavy for the next game.

“My job is to produce the right mood, and I feel especially responsible after not so good performances, [so] we work on it.”
