The Tartan Army will invade the 02 in July when Scotland take part in Star Sixes — a World Cup for former international footballers.
Don Hutchison, who scored the goal that beat England at Wembley in 1999, was back in the capital on Thursday with fellow Scotland caps Dominic Matteo, Paul Dickov, Christian Dailly, Rab Douglas and Simon Donnelly.
And they summoned up the spirit of Braveheart ahead of Saturday’s Six Nations rugby international between England and Scotland at Twickenham, before the Auld Enemy clash in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park in June.
But all Hutchison & Co are thinking about is pipping the likes of England, Brazil and Germany to the inaugural Star Sixes trophy when the four-day six-a-side competition starts on July 13.
England will be skippered by Steven Gerrard, with Michael Owen, Rio Ferdinand and David James in the squad.
Hutchison said: “At any sporting event, whether rugby or football, the Tartan Army turn out in force. It’s going to be a fantastic event.”
* Scotland will face the likes of Roberto Carlos, Carles Puyol, Michael Ballack, Robert Pires and Deco at Star Sixes, a new competitive world six-a-side tournament at The O2, London, July 13-16.
