Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso appears to have announced his intention to retire from professional football.
The 35-year-old has featured 27 times for Bayern this season, including playing all 180 minutes in their 10-2 aggregate Champions League last 16 triumph over Arsenal.
Alonso's retirement came out of the blue on Thursday morning as he tweeted: "Lived it. Loved it. Farewell beautiful game."
